Udaipur is largely famous for its grand forts, castles, and pristine lakes, the Vintage Car Museum makes an interesting diversion in the tourist's landscape. The museum houses multiple vintage automobile models used by the Royals of the Mewar dynasty of Udaipur. The Mewar dynasty is one of the most affluent Rajput rulers, leading lavish and luxurious lifestyles. At the Vintage Car Museum Udaipur, you will be getting a tiny glimpse of the lavishness in the exclusive Rolls Royce and Mercedes models, which were previously custom-made and owned by the Mewar family.
The museum complex was originally the Mewar State Motor Garage (Palace Garage), it is now under the HRH group owned by Rana Shri Arvind Singh Mewar, who is the current heir of the Mewar family. On February 15, 2000, Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, the founder of the National Motor Museum of England had inaugurated the museum.
The 1934 Rolls Royce Phantom which was used in the famous James Bond movie Octopussy and the Classic Cadillac convertible that escorted Queen Elizabeth of England back to the airport in 1961 during her visit to Udaipur are among the most popular displays of the Vintage Car Museum.
