Jaisalmer is the Jaisalmer Government Museum. It is a small museum but houses several cultural artifacts and Thar Desert’s rich heritage.

The Department of Museums and Archaeology established it during 1984 and it still scores high on the sightseeing list of tourists. All because of the striking display of Godawan, in the form of a trophy. Godawan is the state bird (The Great Indian bustard) of Rajasthan.

Apart from the trophy, you will find statues, jewelry, rock-cut crockery, and traditional items of household here dating back to the 9th and 7th century AD. If you come along with your kids here you can show them a massive collection of wood and marine fossils conserved here besides the rarest sculptures from the townships of Lodurva, and Kiradu.
