The three days celebration is an extravaganza of sights, smells, tastes and unique delights of the desert city. Desert Festival Jaisalmer is one of the most famous Rajasthani Festivals visited by thousands of tourists is organized by Rajasthan Tourism Development Authority in February every year. The Desert Festival continues for about three days in the middle of historical forts, ancient haveli, Jain temples, majestic palaces and indigenous culture. The three days long event is celebrated first two days in the Jaisalmer city and last one day in Sam Sand Dunes of Jaisalmer Desert. The celebrations of this festival make the desert come alive with color, enthusiasm and happiness. The festival commences with a procession in the morning from the Jaisalmer Fort to the Shahid Poonam Singh Stadium. The locals dress in traditional and bright costumes. The Gair and the fire dance are highlights of the festival.
