Nakki Lake is settled in the hill station of Mount Abu. The lake is encircled by lush green hills on all sides within the Aravalli range. It is an artificial lake at a height of 4000 feet above sea level. The Nakki lake is half a mile long and a quarter wide with a depth of 20 to 30 feet.

History of Nakki Lake –

According to one tale, the lake was constructed by the Gods as a refuge from their adversary, the Bashkali demon. Another story revolves around the romantic saga of the sage Rakshiya Balam. Legend has it that a king promised his daughter’s hand in marriage to anyone who could excavate a lake using only their nails overnight. Rakshiya Balam, smitten with the king’s daughter, completed the daunting task, hence earning the name Nakki Lake (Nakh meaning nails).
